Fuzzy Dragon Wonders Celebrates Engineers:
“Fuzzy Dragon Wonders” celebrates the idea that superheroes are real.
They are people who choose careers and callings that help others every day.
Engineers, teachers, and community servants show children that kindness has power. Truly, these are Real-Life Superheroes Who Help Others.
One of those real-life superheroes is my friend Judy Tramble.
Her life of service perfectly reflects the heart of Fuzzy Dragon Wonders.
Helping others is not just something she does.
It is who she is. Judy is one of those Real-Life Superheroes Who Help Others.

A Friendship Built on Service and Purpose
Judy Tramble and I have been friends for nearly thirty years.
We worked together and later retired from Spire (formerly Alagasco) in Birmingham, Alabama.
From the beginning, her focus was always on helping others.
Judy consistently served her through her sorority, the Junior League, and other organizations.
Service was never a phase for her.
It was a lifelong commitment rooted in care and responsibility.
In Fuzzy Dragon Wonders, the children explore real jobs that make a difference.
Judy’s life shows how those jobs shape stronger communities.
Engineering as a Superpower That Helps Others
Judy Tramble is an engineer.
Engineering is one of the careers Fuzzy Dragon and his friends explore.
It teaches children how problem-solving can help people.
Judy earned her mechanical engineering degree from Southern University.
After graduation, she began her career with Southern Company.
Birmingham has been her home for more than forty years.
Engineers protect systems people rely on every day.
They solve problems, design things, and make communities safer and more efficient.
That is real-life superhero work. Engineers are often Real-Life Superheroes Who Help Others by making lives better.
Fighting Hunger Through the Five Loaves Ministry
Through her Church, Sixth Avenue Baptist, Judy serves with the Five Loaves Ministry.
This program addresses food insecurity among students.
Volunteers pack weekend meals for children at Birmingham city schools.
The schools include Washington, Oxmoor Valley, and Hemphill.
Students receive breakfast, lunch, and snacks on Saturdays and Sundays.
Food security allows children to focus on learning.
It supports health, growth, and dignity.
This quiet service changes lives in powerful ways.
Supporting Teachers and Schools in Shelby County
Judy also serves with the Shelby County Educational Foundation.
The foundation raises funds to support teachers and schools.
Its main fundraiser, Taste of Shelby County, provides classroom mini-grants.
These mini-grants help teachers avoid using personal funds.
During the pandemic, the funds Judy helped raise supported the installation of touchless water fountains in schools.
Supporting teachers means supporting students.
That impact reaches far beyond the classroom.
Sorority Service That Strengthens Communities
Judy is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
She is also a founding member of the Shelby Area Alumnae Chapter in Shelby County, Alabama.
The sorority’s five-point program supports many community needs.
Scholarships help students across multiple Alabama counties.
Workforce students at Jeff State and the University of Montevallo benefit.

Youth programs include gardens and financial literacy workshops.
Students learn budgeting, nutrition, and sustainability.
Mental health education addresses social media responsibility.
Older citizens receive care packages and companionship.
International projects provide clothing for girls in Liberia.
Each effort reflects compassion in action … helping others!
A Personal Philosophy Rooted in Responsibility
Judy’s service is grounded in her Christian faith.
She believes helping others is a responsibility, not an option.
She describes service as “the rent we pay for occupying our little space on Earth.”
To her, blessings are meant to be shared.
Helping others is simply the right thing to do.
This philosophy mirrors the message of Fuzzy Dragon Wonders.
Superheroes are people who choose to help. In summary, Judy is one of those real-life Superheroes who help others.
